Love Is Our Lifeline Poem by Jinge Norvall

Love Is Our Lifeline

And there again
into the blackest night we go
Faltering through jagged outcrops
Of razor rock and stumbling stone -
Slipping on loose grey shale,
Falling into the abyss
where no light finds its way-
Descending ever deeper
into howling valleys
devoid of peace, joy and sunshine -
Coldness settling
like dense fog
Blinding and chilling
even the brightest, bold hearts..
We have left the trusting warmth
Of day
For this bleak horror
Of devilish night
Where fiends have their way
Wreaking havoc
With their prey.
Only love throws the rope
And pulls us back from the cliff-face-
Only hope holds on,
Knowing that love
Is our lifeline.
