Love Birthed Me Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

Love Birthed Me

do you like me or
do you value me?
If you do,
you are underserving
Unworthy of all
the love i can provide
Understand that your
insatiable lust invokes
Feelings of disgust
Someone that values me
will appreciate
Everything the last one
took for granted
I'm much more than my body
And if you've had the chance
typically you would probably
Take my hand to have me dance
In a cloud of obscurity
Where's the security?
I know you
I know your intentions
And trust me
I've paid close attention
you would understand
how beautiful i am
beyond your mind that wonders
Love birthed me.
Given me life to be able to breathe.
Love carried me through times
where i should've given up
but because of my fierce spirit,
i kept fighting
because i believed
that there was something better
waiting just for me.
if you haven't noticed
the quality of someone
Who knows of their worth
and values that tradition,
what makes you worthy of a shot?
It only seem that you seek quantity
And I'm not one you'll
be marking off your list
And because you have
a weakness for the body
Will you continue
to feed the hunger
Until you have
fully developed
So you can like me
But you see no real value in me
Because you don't value yourself
As you expect a
queen to settle for a peasant
Well, honey, a queen
is only made for a king
And in vice versa...
I don't like you
I just don't see your value
Beyond what it is
And you can try as you might
To move mountains
I won't be moved
I just simply am not impressed
So slow it down, give it a rest
I've seen what you've
considered your best
