Love Across The Road Poem by Sophy Iminzah

Love Across The Road

Rating: 3.5

In my fantasies,
she was always in my embrace;
in the middle of the road,
her hips a small circle smiling up at me

Her front door, closed to mates
My virgin girl
Never went out at night
My quiet mouse-
cute, quiet, conservative

One day, through my window courage came in.
I stopped watching secretly.
She stood mid-point of the road,
depressed, worried, lonely

'How are you? '
She sobbed in my arms
'I am pregnant! '
Alien hands carried me to Venus
The heat drained me.

Ignorance is bliss.
Love is blind.
Releasing the feelings under my hat,
we moved to the safe side.
I crossed the road; to love.
