Love Poem by Tayyab Ijaz

Love

The starry face of the sky
Flowers embracing me, cuddling children, romantic lovers
Remind me that life is but a symphony
Love is basis of life and cause of existence of universe
An aroma of love
I feel around me
But my heart sinks in despondency
To see the starved faces of children, Dying hopes, scattered dreams, Gory coffins
And groaning men in pain and fears
My heart rips apart when I see the greed, selfishness, apathy, pomp and show
I muse why man has become an animal
Why he has shut his eyes to his surroundings
He is not soulless
But why sans sympathy and love for fellow beings
I ponder sanguinely
That the status quo will change
But who will remind him of his grand status in universe?
