Lost Love Poem by Paul Sebastian

Lost Love

Rating: 5.0

I did love you with all my heart
Cherished you right from the start
In your presence I trembled, was spell-bound
Felt restless and lost when you're not around
Longing for you, my limbs would become listless
Your changing mood swings made me helpless
Looked forward to your morning greetings
Studied your morning-after eyes, face, and feelings
Wondered how your night might have been
You possessed my mind, heart: my whole being
You had become a part of me
Bound in chains, love cried to be free
Yearned to express: You did not see
For you, a good-many-tears had I shed
Love bound in chains choked inside
Dear, I had loved totally and completely
None but you, even if I lived a century

We built our future plans
Promised to live as friends
Live a life together on our own
Against all odds, we'd move on
Soar to the skies, like eagles,
Our lives would be well-settled….
Waiting years graced by
Putting us into some trials
Through it all, friendship survived
New life breathed and we revived

You deserted this dream-friendship for another:
Someone you had loved when you were younger
Forgotten your journey of painful, long suffering years
You had pushed through hurtful times, shedding tears
You let your memory lapse, to rekindle lost love flames
It is your first love's rebirth: I have no envy or blame
You're reenacting lost love: to make some future gains
Happy, you're happy, trusting this love doesn't wane
Not mine, but your completeness that matters
For a while, I'd endure the pain my heart suffers

I must now sacrifice my own needs, let you be
I want you to sing a new happy tune, be free
Heart set free, you'd fly high without wings
My sincere love: your happiness and well-being
My lifetime gift to you, with heart-felt sincerity
Always treasure you in my precious memory
Know you had stolen a place in my heart
There you shall always be in one part.
In my treasure trove of memories, to keep
Crawling years into the past, I quietly slip.

Dear, do take care
Yet do be aware
Of the snares
Some men may set
Along the path you tread
For their own selfish gain
But at your loss, causing pain.

May God shower your path His blessings
Granting many favours you been asking
May He keep you safe and sound
May your abundant life abound
In the new life, you have found.

Goodbye, my love
Goodbye, my friend.

The ruminations of a lover who by some mischance lost his lady love....! Though in a way, she deserted him, he keeps no grudge for her, but is large hearted enough to wish her all joy and blessings... A passionate and moving write! !
