Lost Love Poem by hornam adzadu

Lost Love

Rating: 4.5

For I sank into daydreaming
Fabricating a scenario which was
impossible in the making
For the lead role was
absent, not wanting any part in my
maturation
But my heart needed so my mind
created that which would never
be present
A scene where I ran into his arms
as he arrives from work
A scene where I am flogged with
a belt for staying out late
A scene where we watch a
football game together
A scene where we both wear
matching outfits
For the 100th time today I
continue to daydream
To reality I was brought with a
smack across the back of my
head, Kw3 yaanoba
My mind reeling to adjust with my
present setting
Zzzzzzzzz I hear before I
remember that just a bite from a
mosquito in Sodom and
Gomorrah can give you chronic
malaria
With a jerk I move to buy the
candle which I've been sent to
buy
The scene of Kwame and his dad
had earned me another
daydream and a smack
I gracefully move in the slums
barefooted, bare chested to get
the candle
As I approach that which I call
home, I look forward to another
dream with my imaginary dad on
my mat and my cloth covered
stone pillow
After all if a mad man can find
comfort in the rubbish
dumps, why can't I?
