Lost Angel Mambo Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Lost Angel Mambo

Sometimes I catch myself
Sleep talking through the night,
Whispers of a time I met an angel,
Near and dear,
She showed me the depth of how much you can truly care for someone, a stranger, a woman imaginations freed the butterflies that roamed with every smile,
Lost in a stomach that grew anxious with each chill felt from an unknowing stare,
Not really knowing reason nor purpose,
A simplicity that lies within a single look,
With arms to hold near and dear,
Warmth spread from cheek to cheek, we played like kids,
Without a care to how much time has passed,
moments that elasped into an eclipse of emotion that grew into something bigger,
Her voice brought comfort with each word that passed through her lips,
The kind of voice that reminds you of home each time its heard,
At that time,
I found that I needed you, more than you ever could've known,
As each moment that passed, I held you tighter, afraid to let go of something I could feel more so than touch,
The air I breathed began to taste different, without truly knowing air, I finally learned to breath,
At that moment I learned the definition of purpose,
True purpose,
I lost myself in you,
Afraid to be found,
As I grew with you, seemingly a lifetime,
Although young with time,
I understood what it meant to fly without means to,
Without such wings to carry weight, without such vessel to mock the angels as they soar through the sky,
At those times, with eyes closed,
I flew with an angel,
Sometimes I catch myself
Sleep talking through the night,
Saying prayers, wishing to find your presence,
With aching eyes, and lips that miss,
They reach only to feel your touch,
As they search the night,
Looking for you once more
