Losing Friends Poem by Louren Groenewald

Losing Friends

They say in friends we trust
What if it was overshadowed by lust
Will there ever be us

Ignoring what matters
Listening to nothing but pretend
Our friendship is shattered
A girlfriend means the end

What are friends for
Always standing by your side
Before you push him away
Put the drug in his place

Warning him against the death
Of a friend that meant more than lust
Losing my trust with every breath
They say in friends we trust

When would you ever come to terms
That she’s stealing your soul
Stealing the you I’ve always known

You’ve changed so much I barely see
The friend I had that was always to be
Tearing down all your intensions
Being friends, there’s no reasons
