Losing Aussie Icon's Poem by Lyn Paul

Losing Aussie Icon's

Rating: 3.5

Pure beauty in my home of Australia
Great Icon's that will live on by name
Live on, By beauty, by taste, by smell and by flight
Yet all of our Icon's are flying the coup
We are losing Icon's, one by one
From this Australia
The Lucky Country

We cannot lose our Flying Kangaroo
Our Car manufacturers have ran out of gas
Our vegemite has lost it's spread
Our tinned spaghetti has slipped from the can
Can we not save our Aussie Icon's

Our beauty is Impeccable
Yet Our Premier has eaten our sharks
The Prime Minister is splitting the Wings Of Qantas

We will always have the beauty of
Our kangaroo paw
The Grass tree
Ayres Rock
And The Great Australian Bight

But we our losing OUR farmers, Our Icon's and maybe OUR way of Life

Australia has great fame and great wealth
For OUR children
We Want to...
WE Need to...
Still Call Australia Home

This is the modern world we live in - not a pretty one, just driven by greed. Great poem Lyn, passionate and heartfelt.

This happens in many countries! In the name of globalization, indigenous products are traded and looted by others and the artisans and farmers live in debt and deprivation! Any one who loves ones country feels it strongly! A powerful write! Thank you Lyn for your comment on my 300th poem!

Man`s encounter with nature and life has ever been erratic of place and time. Man is the most dangerous animal in the world.

selling the country's indigenous resource is like selling one's mother for gain. our heritage must be protected for generations to come. great reminder, Lyn.
