Losing A Mother Poem by G. Akanji Olaniyi

Losing A Mother

Rating: 4.0

How hard to lose a mother
What would be your consolation?
For the love lost
The support missed
Or the care not enjoyed
That is as much as it is
A mother is a jewel of no estimate
The succor and relief in crises
The shoulder for rest
The light beckoning on the other side of the tunnel
A refuge from tumults
Mother is golden
A departure that leaves a big hole
It created a vacuum very hard to fill
A hole yawning for a cover
Yet never easy to fill
In fact, never possible

I lost my mother while I was in high school. Your poem covers the feelings I had and still have at the loss. Thank you for sharing. Peace
