Lords Of The Flies Poem by Olufayo Ezekiel

Lords Of The Flies

Let's fly!
oh! lords of the flies,
that fly in the sky so high.
Let's soar in the wind!
like the eagle;
that dwells in the sky above.

Let's ride!
on the horse of hope,
that made your values so high.
Let's fight!
the fight of peace,
that you never victory.

How many libations are we to make?
for these self-deifying gods.
How many sacrifices are we to crossroad?
for-our-ogas-at-the-tops.
To let's clear a new path for the elephant;
for the old path is weed bewildered.

unfold not the sky, lords!
Even;
Achebe gave way to Amanda;
like fire to ashes.
And Tutuola gave way to Okri;
like plantain to sucker.

I plead the lords;
snare not our birds that fly,
and give us not an elegic-reptile.
Your hot waters is every where;
hurting our souls down,
in the cave of the messiahs.

A family without an heir;
will have her property plundered.
A tradition without an heir;
will vanish.
And a still water of no rain;
will dry in a sunny day.

Let's fly!
oh! lords of the flies,
that fly in the sky so high.
Let's fight!
the fight of peace;
that you never victory.
