Looking For Christmas Poem by Jean Penner

Looking For Christmas

Rating: 5.0

Gently an ember drifts from a fire,
Blown by the wind o’er the land,
Like the answers we seek,
When at Christmas we peek,
It rests in the palm of His hand.

God’s golden ember burns in the night,
A sparkle of hope all aglow,
Deep in the darkness His ember will shine,
As softly it touches a soul.

The spark in His hand, God sends to the world,
His love still igniting the flame,
Warming the world with the peace of His love,
As on the first Christmas, He came.

For Christmas is found on a cold, winter night,
When there is no room at the inn,
Yet, shelter is offered to a poor homeless soul,
As a stranger takes time to befriend.

Christmas is found in the quiet of night,
When a heart is felt trembling with fear,
God sends an angel to whisper a song,
Be still…His presence is near.

Christmas is found in a world needing hope,
In uncertain times and despair,
Like a beacon of light or bright shining star,
God listens and answers our prayers.

Keeping us warm and near to His heart,
Christmas is wrapped up in love,
Like the swaddling clothes of a baby,
God holds us and sings of a dove.

Looking for Christmas with eyes of a child?
Dreaming of Hope ‘cross the land?
Like the answers we seek,
When at Christmas we peek,
It rests in the palm of His hand.
