Look Within Poem by Jack Denton

Look Within

Look Within
To see your reflection
In the rippling river
From the pebble falling, cruel ejection
Like the arrow from the quiver
It is not what you esteem
It is not that sun beam
You thought you were
Look Within

Look Within
To see your reflection
In the river, unequivocal
A piece of pure perfection
It is not allegorical
What you see is damnable
Worthy to make your soul annullable
You know you are
Look Within

Look Within
What you see is not what you desire
You know when your soul does suffocate
You’ll go down to the never-ending fire
For the lives you did extirpate
Look Within
Look Within
