Longing To Be Free Poem by Nikiesha Richards

Longing To Be Free

I am tired of running the same race on the same track
Instead of pressing forward, I keep looking back
All who were behind are now in front of me
Oh how I longed to be set free

I am in a beautiful garden admiring the flowers
Seeking a peace of mind as the clock tick away the hours
A place of such overwhelming serenity
Oh how I longed to be set free

The wind is blowing, and the boat is tossed
At the rhythm of the ocean I find myself lost
If only my life can flow freely like the sea
Oh how I longed to be set free

Comforting breeze and the beauty of the beach
Ooh take me away as far as my imagination can reach
Where good things would happen and I can be truly happy
Oh how I longed to be set free

I have a strong overwhelming sense of peace
And all chains from me has been released
I embrace the pleasure in being me
Finally here I am, I’ve been set free
