Longing Poem by Annabelle Phelan

Longing

I had My expectations
But none did they compare
To that still lifeless body
Before me, laying there

Her breath a distant longing
Her skin so clear and fair
Her smile now a memory
Her pulse no longer there

A tear in her eye
That last tear left to fall
That last emotion left un-felt
As she slipped away from it all

And although I never felt it
Now its clear to see
That body so still, so dead
It used to belong to me....
