Long Night Poem by Brandon Owens

Long Night

I want to cross this distance
And put an end to this silence
An end to this deafening dream
That is continuously repeating
Yelling into my mind, Screaming
Yearning to become reality
Defiling the sanctuary of my sleep
Echoing after I awaken
Splitting my head into pieces
It's useless with all the noises
To put these demons to rest
They wail in their distress
Craving the round softness
Of their mother's breast
Oh children, I know how it feels
Not to be wanted
Shh Shh now close your eyes
It's going to be another long night
