Long Happy Knives Poem by James Merchant

Long Happy Knives

Rating: 5.0

Smiling silver
Leaks boiling water across the tapestry
Soaking right through
Leaving muddled stains like inkblots
And it occurs to me that this action
Is my attempt at playing God
A butcher attempting the work of a surgeon
