Locked Up Poem by Natasha Foster

Locked Up

I see red; someone's dead.
I hear screaming; not believing.
I feel possessed, it's in my chest;
Slowly spread into my head.

Strapped down tight
Late at night;
Eyes never shut,
I'm just some mutt.
Pry and pull,
Bite and claw -
Writhing wrists are raw.

Break the straps; avoid the traps.
Go outside, run and hide.
I feel free; I smell the sea.
Leave this place without a trace.

Strapped down tight
Late at night;
Eyes never shut,
I'm just some mutt.
Pry and pull,
Bite and claw -
Writhing wrists are raw.

Fooled me once; fooled me twice.
Heart of Ice - I paid the price.
Please, don't worry, she's not dead,
She's just locked up in my head.

Strapped down tight
Late at night;
Eyes never shut,
I'm just some mutt.
Pry and pull,
Bite and claw -
Writhing wrists are raw.
