Living Beyond The Grave

The race is tough,
I'm running with a goal in mind,
To achieve today and in tomorrow's race, in another planet,
Every award conferred on me should be worthwhile to stand the favour of time,
Otherwise there will be no growth in what I'm planting,
I may not be the harvester all the time,
However I will appreciate it if my name flicks a green light on the tomb stone,

My coffin is cosy,
For I see the beauty of sweating for tomorrow,
My children and grandchildren will not only see my testimony,
But will also celebrate in comfort,
They will celebrate in exalted platforms,
They will work less because my sweat would have watered the orange tree,
For tomorrow's sweet oranges, they will pick,
My rewards will be free for them to enjoy in comfort,

All the time my name is called in honour of my achievements,
I will smile in the grave with a scull full of holes,
Laughing all places like a modern apparition,
Living beyond the grave will lull me to deep sleep in the grave,
And wide awake in heaven,

Let my children and grandchildren be not passengers,
Waiting for a bus on a long and treacherous trip,
Learning how to enjoy an award even when they don't have it,
Is what I expect of my children and grandchildren,
They need not emulate me now for what I'm doing now,
But must learn maturity by believing in honesty and hard work,
I will tell them to watch out for food on a platter,
They must sweat to avoid my legacy melting like ice cream,
In the high taste of wants,

1 March 2012, Niki
