Little Wet Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Little Wet

Rating: 5.0

Someone called me from behind
I turned back anxiously to find
He was rickshaw puller and old classmate
We were together in school and never got late

He feared that I may not recognize him
Neglect when go near and fail to oblige
“Oh George my dear friend is that you?
Unique feeling for a moment to come through

I remembered him as an honest boy
Even though with very hard living he was full of joy
He visited church every week without fail
“I have prayed for you all” he will come out and tell

As a boy I used to visit his home
It was simple, nice and welcome home
His mother was so kind and affectionate
She will call me near and advise to remain up to date

She feared her son not doing well
I will go near and apprise her very well
“Mom, George is nice and gentleman “
He will prove good and kind human

She will stare at me and smile
I used to spend quite times to write with files
She will come in with some sweets and offer
I was very much moved with her kind behavior

Thereafter the days moved with lightening speed
I moved out of village as it was urgent need
I had to study further and go abroad
He remained in village to share the family load

My eyes turned little wet
“How such cruel can be his fate“?
In life many things go in unexpected way
Friends may turn eyes when go away
