Little Tree Poem by Emmanuel Arunee Mwanza

Little Tree

Hello little tree
I wonder if you are listening
Will you respond with swaying to what am speaking
Though you are little you look grown up in peace and quietness
So can you drill me to become like you?
I am a man with no peace
And right now something weighs me down
Are you listening little tree?
Sway for me please in acknowledgement of my words
For I really admire you,
Small yet peaceful
With the wind blowing, sing for me
Repeat that song that comforts me when I lie under your little shade
I wouldn't mind even if the birds sing with you
It doesn't matter as long as your song come with peace that I seek
Let your branches and leaf build an orchestra
If I shake my head in contentment
Or sing and feed me with coolness under your shade
Share with me that warmth that makes you grow
Maybe me too can grow
Little tree, 'hello'?
Sing for me if you are listening
Give me a sign to show you grasp what am telling you little tree...
