Little Girl Searching For Heaven Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Little Girl Searching For Heaven

She rushed back into the room battered from the trials her mother and father put her through
only 4 years old not understanding the actions of lifes consequences she awoke to see her father on top of her mother in the kitchen an hour or two after she was tucked in
loud noises filled the air
cries for help filled the little girls ears as she stood there defenseless as her father yelled
to her mother
slapping
kicking
yelling
Because she brought up the fact she deserved better
The little girl rushed into her fathers leg
trying to pull him away trying to stop him with every small tug and pull
as she only weighs 58 pounds against his 230
he flung his hand back accidently hitting the little girl and knocking her back against the doorway
her mother rose up calling to her daughter only to be hit again as he didnt stop
She began to cry as the man she once called father became a total stranger
the word bitch slipped through his lips as the reasons never became clear to the little girl until she became older
she ran into the back of the house to her mother and fathers room and reached in her daddies nightstand to get the 38. He'd carry around his ankle
heavy in weigh her arms grew tired as she ran back into the kitchen
Her mother caught eyes with the doorway that held her daughter
that held her fathers 38.
She screamed baby no, as tears welled in her eyes more her father turned around to see his daughter holding the gun he should've been more secure in hiding
He reached his hand out inching forward to his brokenhearted daughter with tears streaming down her face
she tried to raise the gun towards his head
Not knowing the extinct of what she was doing
she only wanted to protect her mother
her mother heartbroken as well
screaming once more baby I said no with her husband still inching closer to the doorway
the little girl just stood there holding the pistol as best she could
He got closer and grabbed the barrel as the 38. Went off pointing towards his stomach
his body collasped against the cold tiles on the floor
her mother crying even harder as all the little girl wanted to do was protect her
