Listen, Oh Beloved!

When my heart musters enough courage
To tell you that I love you the most
You listen, oh beloved!
My feelings that I host

When the moonlight walks down the steps
As the soothing rays touch my heart
Basking in that full moonlight
My senses forget all their part
Amongst all when I get your glimpse
So similar as the cool moonlight
You listen, oh beloved!
To my heart’s full delight

When you go away from me
It seems as if you are world apart
Though I pretend as if to control myself
Still I miss you, in whole and in part
I die to hear your subtle soft voice
As we’re not able to meet
You listen to me, oh beloved!
So listen to my heartbeat

poet Rupert Brooke

If I should die, think only this of me:
That there's some corner of a foreign field
