Listen Poem by Felix Lee

Listen

Rating: 5.0

Listen,
There’s a voice out there.
A tiny quiet voice,
Just pleading to be heard.

Listen,
There’s sobbing out there.
A tiny girl’s cry,
A tiny heartbreak being heard.

Listen,
There’s silence out there.
Eery silence,
The Grim Reaper’s rasping breath is heard.

Listen,
The girl’s grave crumbling out there.
Nobody comes,
Nobody cares.

Listen,
A young hiker stumbles upon the grave out there.
A moments silence,
A moments reflection.

Listen,
The police are out there.
Ambulance sirens are wailing,
A young girl’s battered, decomposed body at the back.

Listen,
The judge’s gravel is pounding out there.
The convict is hanged,
The people are cheering.

Listen,
A families’ weeping out there.
A father’s grief,
A mother’s sorrow.

Listen,
The people are celebrating are out there.
The moment of justice,
For a long forgotten girl.

Listen,
The girl’s spirit is cheering out there.
Once ignored and beaten,
Now a hero in her own way.
