Like Tutankhamen Poem by Sheena Blackhall

Like Tutankhamen

Until I was ten I thought everyone wed their relations
Cousins, or second cousins
The in-house arrangement seemed to suit my parents

It cut down the need for wedding invitations
All the family skeletons in one cupboard

One day, a friend explained
That most people married strangers

How weird, I thought!
How many nasty shocks might they be hiding!
