Mankind’s time on Earth is like the “blink of an eye”
Measured against our Creator who Rules from On High.
What have we achieved during our time on Earth
If not for our Poetry, till our Death from our Birth?

Verses by Children, Poems and Odes,
Epics and Limericks, Laments full of woes,
Poems in Blank Verse, others that Rhyme,
Are written by Poets, time after time.

All are recorded and written down here,
In Books and on paper, and on CDs to hear.
Lest verses are lost, never more to be read,
By future generations before going to bed.

I’m glad that I write, and have something to leave
To future generations, who might wish to read
Poems by me, and others who write,
Recorded for posterity on poetry websites.

As I read the works of Poets of the past,
And see how their poems continue to last,
I’m truly glad that mine are also there,
For all in the future to read and to share.
