I remember when life wasn't a tragedy
And I loved you out of necessity

The stars above won't lie
But it's you that makes me cry

I've always kept control
Though somehow you took over my role
And now I give to you my heart and soul
But only if you promise to never let me go

I'll grow in all the places you died
And I won't give up so you can't say I never tried

I'll be the water to your soul, that which it needs to grow
And maybe if you told me so, I'd let my feelings show

Like smoke around you I linger
I'd die if you knew how much you actually got me wrapped around your finger
