Like My Loneliness Poem by Lora Colon

Like My Loneliness

Rating: 5.0

Another day has come and gone,
Another sun has set,
Another wave has left the shore,
Now come the hours of regret

Now comes the pain of loneliness,
Now comes the chill of night,
Now comes the emptiness I dread,
With no relief in sight

With no gentle arms to hold me,
With no words of love to weave,
With no tender lips to kiss me,
Here come the angels to grieve

Here comes the light through the window,
Here comes the unwelcome dawn,
Here comes another heartbreak,
Like my loneliness, this could go on... and on.....

A lovely poem in its sadness. The parallels with the sunset and tide work well as a lead-in to the emotional heart of the poem. Perhaps writing of the loneliness helps to take its sting away a little? I hope so. You are not alone because many feel the same way.

Sadness, despair, a hollow feeling, no one to turn to comfort you...we all feel the ache. Well done Lora.
