Like It Always Does Poem by Robert Rorabeck

Like It Always Does

Sun glints on the insouciant promenade,
Yes it does- Like it always does,
Like a queenly octopus who isn’t ever afraid,
Or just like javelins of burning lemonade;
And the boys and girls does what they always
Does,
Get up and shave their peachy fuzz:
Get up and get paid while the sun, their ever burning
Mother keeps them warm in her oblique nest,
And the oceans brush like tears
Of a giant unlucky in love, the oldest and most
Unremembered giant;
Yet it does- Like it always does.
