Like A Pebble Thrown Fast Across A Frozen Lake Poem by Alexander Pearson

Like A Pebble Thrown Fast Across A Frozen Lake

Like a pebble thrown fast across a frozen lake
Its passing unremarkable
finally skitters into the shallow mud bank
Seasons slowly interring it beneath the ground
Its deeds and existence lost forever
Velocity for the sake of velocity
Some momentum for the sake of momentum
Some impulses for the sake of burying my existence

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I thought this up on the short walk up the hill to Sydenham station on a wet morning; there was one thought in my head of how beautiful it is to stand on a hill in a strong clean wind on bright morning after the rain.
