Lights Poem by David DeAngelo

Lights

Rating: 2.7

Walking down the corridor of my life
I follow the only way it leads
To a door at the edge of its darkness
And I must enter to face my deeds

The door creeks open without persuasion
Blackness awaits my mind deep inside
So puzzling, so confusing, so strange
And in myself I cannot confide

Some type of hero I need
With guidance I can take heed
To follow until new heights
All I need are glowing lights

I blindly stumble, arms outstretched in front
Hoping to find something I know
I reach out and touch something familiar
Something from such a long time ago

I’ve found the lights I’ve been looking for
The lights that I’ve had from long before
I’ve had them all along but forgot
But I need them know for I’ve been caught

Some type of hero I’ve found
With guidance not so newfound
I’ve followed them to new heights
Those wonderful glowing lights
