Life Together Poem by Steven Shoemaker

Life Together

Rating: 4.0

She cleans the floor.
(I clean the ceiling.)
She washes dishes.
(I clean my plate.)
She cooks.
(I report fascinating
stories from the paper.)

I mow the grass.
(She plays in the flower beds.)
I haul the garbage bin to the street.
(She shops.)
I feed the dog.
(Her cat wakes us up
and terrorizes my dog.)

We get along quite well.
(Her list might be different.)

The ironic ending of this poem makes it suspenseful! That is more reason it is a great poem! ! !

Living together entails building bridges that unite and not barriers that divide by two people with different orientation, but with common denominator, that is love. Cementing areas of compatibility and overlooking areas of differences. A well articulated piece of poetry nicely penned with insight. A lovely poem indeed. Thanks for sharing.
