Life Stealers Poem by Kit Strait

Life Stealers

I stay awake all night, thinking.
While my brothers are all out drinking.
I do not understand why,
Someone has to die,
Just to let us monsters live.

I stay awake all night, feeling,
While my sisters are all out stealing.
I cannot comprehend,
why they break and bend
the laws. When I always give.

I stay awake all night, drowsing,
While my sons are out carousing.
I do not know
where they go,
but they shouldn't stay out 'till five.

I stay awake all night, illing,
While my daughters are all out killing.
I cannot stop them,
They will not listen.
I've tried, I know I'll be the next to die.
