Life Springs In Surf Poem by bijoy mohapatra

Life Springs In Surf

Life springs up in surf
bobbing in pleasure and pain
Now above the waves in to the sky or
at times biting sands on the bed.

They all come in now and then,
Some lift out but never for long
Some even hold and cry together for a while
The next its all alone
on the waves and trying hard like all others
to learn and to swim, swim and swim

Learning to swim, inching the years behind
Reflecting in retrospect of
the trophies and humble pies they gave us on the way
The itching and burnings of salt on the nape
Of the words of encouragement heard and forgotten
Searching for those, who held us and cried together.

Life is what the sea of time makes,
where the waves of events lead to
the efforts, the people and the trophies - away
deep inside and
one day ashore - inert and invisible
