Life Lesson Poem by George Aul

Life Lesson

I think about why things go wrong,
why some people never carry a song,
we just don't know when the rain will fall,
or when it will be our final curtain call.

It's hard to laugh when you're kicked in the gut,
or when life seems to be in one giant rut,
but hang on for all that you can take,
and when you fall down - get up with one big shake.

You can't take it with you, and you can't leave it here,
so when it's time to depart, do it with a gracious cheer;
for life has a way of evening the score,
always give it your best - no less, no more.
