Life Is Stage

A WONDERFUL CAGE
PLEASANTLY STRANGE
WE ARE INSIDE AS ACTORS
EVERY ONE HAS A ROLE TO PLAY
THERE IS A BEGINING AND END
HOW MUCH WE WISH
WE APPEAR AS THE CURTAIN OPENS
WHEN THE CURTAIN CLOSES
WE BOW AND LEAVE
THE STAGE IS PERMENANT
FOR GENERATION AFTER GENERATION
THIS IS ALL WHAT IT IS ABOUT
FOR US THE HUMAN RACE

poet Katharine Lee Bates

O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America!
