Life At Times Poem by Dr John Celes

Life At Times

My faith in God and trust in Him,
At times appear to waver much;
From rosy future, things turn grim,
And confidence is low as such.

God blessed me with many a gift,
And I have done so many feats;
Life's boat on sea remains adrift;
I hear melancholy drum-beats!

I have witnessed a lot in life;
I have accrued some kind of wealth;
Yet, I have fears of undue strife,
With my aging, going down health.

As life so ebbs, my runs are walks;
I am God-fearing and pious;
I want to work more, lesser talk;
My time now seems very precious.

Although I am quite well off now,
And God is always by my side,
I feel so sorry, I could not love,
God better and in Him abide.

My years are passing in silence;
I love my cross of turbulence;
Nothing is permanent on earth;
I learnt this truth in life since birth.

I have to end my journey well;
Many unknown and known have left;
Some problems seem in life like hell;
For righteous souls, Christ's words are deft.
