The word that popped into my mind as I read this poem is not a common one: it's trenchant. This is especially true for the stabbing which begins the poem - it's an amazing eye of the beholder description of the act, which shows how non-responsive this person who lies truly is. The second stanza has some knotty constructions but they fit the poem perfectly! The speaker expresses her triumph with quiet confidence. This poem excels in coiled energy. (Report) Reply

Can't help pondering the Poe referencences. But, in my estimation, this was better thsan Poe himself! (Report) Reply

See now this strength - do I not wear it well?
Very deep and very impact of revenge here.Killer instinct well served in poetry of blades.Well done. (Report) Reply

Poem of the Day

poet Alfred Lord Tennyson

It little profits that an idle king,
By this still hearth, among these barren crags,
Match'd with an aged wife, I mete and dole
Unequal laws unto a savage race,
