Lies Poem by Jayne Downing

Lies

Rating: 4.5

Don’t tell me your secrets
When I prefer the lies
Don’t massacre me with honesty
While I can keep my eyes shut tight from all the truth

Dreams that burned like sunsets
Shrivel in morning’s sun
Rays of early promises
Just barely flicker on inside my messed up mind

Emotions flowing like sonnets
Dammed against the wall
Smashed to smithereens
With nowhere left to crawl but to an empty bed
