Liberty Poem by Jeffrey Stultz

Liberty

In the harbor there’s a lady,
Made of metal and stone;
She lights the way for people
Who want to make the land
of the free their home.
They’re coming from the East and West
Looking for a brand new start,
Searching for the freedom
That only comes with the love
Of Jesus in their hearts.

Cause Liberty’s not in a statue,
Or a document in a glass case,
Liberty lives in the hearts of people
Who’ve looked on Jesus’ face.

You can be strong an free
Shining out for the world to see,
Shining love, shining hope,
Afire with the power of the Holy Ghost.

You know even in America
Where freedom’s light burns bright,
There are people who are prisoners
To the power of sin in their lives.
But Jesus possess the keys,
And He’s given them to you and me,
To heal the broken hearted,
And open the eyes of the blind.

Liberty is you and me,
Shining out Love’s victory,
Bringing truth, bringing light
To hearts held captive in the night.
