Letter To Yesterday Poem by Maureen Alikor

Letter To Yesterday

Though time rolls by
memories of us remain vivid
piercing through my fragile heart
leaving me writhing in sweet agony

See!
How time travels
how the memories return
bearing on its wings
those sweet and sour moments

if wishes would help
would I not wish to be in the past?
Would I choose to languish in this solitude?
Would I not want to be held by you?
Would I not choose to make you smile daily?
Would I not want to take that walk with you?

These memories are bitter sweet
I cherish them
yet they pierce me

these memories are crystal clear,
though of yesterday
yet so alive and real

can I travel back into time?
Would I still see you standing by?
Would you still want me?
Would I still make you smile?
Would you still want me?

A million questions
one heart to answer
would you be the one?
