Letter Poem by Shruti Goswami

Letter

I long to pen a letter this rainy season
Dipped in the nectar of my thoughts and love
Which know no rhyme, logic or reason
Punctuated only with longing pauses
With lines separated only by faith,
Perfumed by petals of dry red roses.
Telling you how much you're missed
Showing how much I longed to kiss
Your sweet lips that forever give
Joy and mirth and a reason to live.
Entreat you to hold my hand,
And my body with yours, intertwined
Caressing each pore of the mind
Like separation never existed in time.
I neatly fold a pristine white sheet
With petals of rose as the edges meet
And sealed it with a kiss that's sweet
Beseeched the wind to hasten retreat
And carry the note with the clouds beneath.
I know my love you'll surely succeed
Decipher delicate nothings in the sheet
Take my name with every heart beat
And yearn like the rains when the earth they meet.

I long to write a letter this rainy season,
I need no reason, I need no reason.
