Let Them Hate Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

Let Them Hate

you hate me
you hate them
you hate everyone
and you allow your hate to consume you
misery likes to throw a welcoming party
Only I would reject that invitation
they'll hate you and won't understand why
for their hearts has only become awry
Cold from the reality of being rejected
by that of a broken soceity
that made them lose touch with humanity
No doubt the darkness will manifest itself
in the deeds, doings and dispositions
of the deeply afflicted
and the feeling keeps eating away at you
until it engulfs you completely
i say, 'let them hate'
for this spirit, they will never break
there is a light inside of me
and that light drives out the hate
