Let The Boat Sail! Poem by Ravikumar C.P.

Let The Boat Sail!

Rating: 3.0

Kannada Poem by Kuvempu (K.V. Puttappa)

Translated by C.P. Ravikumar

Row the boat, sailor, forward ahoy!
The destination is a-calling!
Fly on the waves, the favourable winds
Have set the wings a-bobbing!

Look yonder! A flock of celestial maidens
Paint the clouds a-golden!
Greet the pretty maiden of the east!
Her face is all resplendent!

In the sky a white cloud drifts alone
Atop the distant hill -
This boat beneath is its reflection
As it moves in the waters still!

We are like boats, our lives a sojourn,
It's no more than just a play -
Let morrow be morrow, bygone be bygone,
Let's live our life today!
