Let's Remember Poem by Simphiwe Ntozakhe

Let's Remember

Rating: 5.0

Remember the days of darkness and mourning,
The days of crave and grief
The days of conflict and racism, racialism and apartheid.
The days of minority dominating the majority.
Let us remember. Remember when we were natives,
The son of God turns to be a Dog.
Appreciations replaced by criticism, why we should forget
And forgive?

Remember the Boers heart, perpetrators that perpetuates:
Autocracy but today they want us to forgive them, why?
Let us remember. Remember 27 April 1994
The burning of apartheid laws, the group areas act
Bantu education act
The detention without trial act,
The detention in Roben Island and Lilies farm.
Let us remember………..

Remember our heroes and heroines.
Victora Mxenge, Lilian Ngoyi, Margaret Sisulu
The mother of the nation Princess Magogo
And many more. Our heroes Tata Nelson Mandela,
Walter Sisulu, Bambatha Zondi, Rorbet Sobukwe,
Hector Peterson, Steve Biko and Chris Hani.

Let us remember. Our activist and legends,
The veterans of Umkhonto Wesizwe,
The people who fought for our democracy.
The activist who gave us a ticket from autocracy to democracy,
From grief to happiness, from oppression to impression
Let us remember. Let us enjoy high, superior, supreme
Sovereign independence.
