bare beneath an empty sky

Starfish bathe in honeyed moon.
Life lowers her ceaseless voice
Quiet in her nightly swoon

Curtail your childish celebrations.
Subdue the singing parrots.
Put away your naughty toys
and consume those party carrots.

Blacker than all the nights put together
Brighter than all the days
I have loved you in so many
Horrible, wonderful ways.

On conscience bridge
extraordinary voices sing of
foul deeds and dark desires
of murder as a currency
...

Don't let him call you sweetheart
(though he melts you with a smile)
Cos loving only one heart
Is really not his style
...

Don't think, don’t ponder, don’t contemplate,
Don't find things to complicate.
Don't chase the moon or the stars.
Be content with the way things are.
