Let It Rain Poem by Suzanne Hayasaki

Let It Rain

Let it rain!
Let the clouds stay.
Though the whole world turns gray,
Who am I to complain?

Let it drizzle!
Let the mist descend,
Though it conceals the distant hills,
Who am I to despair?

Let it thunder!
Let the lightning strike,
Though the timid quake with each bolt,
Who am I to revolt?

Let Lady Nature have her way.
Let Her cry and scream,
Though the fields flood and the streets stream,
Who am I to plead for fair weather?

I have seen enough sunshine.
I have felt enough heat.
I have drunk enough lemonade.
I have lost enough sleep.

I am ready for the summer to come to an end,
But since my wish is beyond Her command,
I will have to be satisfied with a temporary respite,
So let the rain continue to fall at least until tonight.
