Let Different Opinions Be. Poem by Rachel Loveday

Let Different Opinions Be.

The biggest lesson there is to learn
Is that no matter how hard you try
you can never expect all of the people
to always see eye to eye

If i ask a dozen people
to form a circle in a room
one by one, I ask them to stand
in a place, in which they choose

The first to form the circle
gets to choose where they'd like to stand
But for the person who joins the circle last
the choice is out their hands

In life there may be options
for some this can be true
but some don't get the same fair choice
And they learn to just 'make-do'

If I stand inside the circle
And hold my hand up high
They will all see something different
And here's the reason why

One will see the back of hand
with nails and knuckles too
The other will say they see the palm
knuckles out of view

Neither person's view is wrong
And neither has told a lie
It's only because of where they're stood
That they can't see eye to eye

In life it may be hard to see
another point of view
but if your life was on another path
it could be you inside their shoes

The important thing for you to know
Is it's okay to disagree
just open your heart and open your mind
and let different opinions be.
