We durfden samen nooit te praten over later
En ons gezamenlijk stamelen liet geen ruimte voor verdriet
met lege woorden tasten we in het duister van een vroeger gebaren
En na het bidden kwam het zwijgen in talen
van zonden waar geen vergiffenis voor hielp

In stilte leert men hier tijd en teken vergeten
nog steeds studerend, aan de leerschool van hoop
leer ik hier mijn moeder haar leven weer weten
Terwijl ik met haar van de muur naar het kastje
van Auschwitz naar Nederland loop
