POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
A leper is a person who has a disease called leprosy. It is an infectious disease and it is long-lasting. The stigma attached to this disease is a very difficult part of the disease. They can experience being avoided by other people for social or moral reasons. The fear of passing on the disease is another stress to contend with.
